Swimming in London

It was on a Saturday a week or so ago. I came to help my friend fixing an old car. It was lovely sunny day which is quite rare this summer. In addition to the antique car, my friend (whose name is John) has a private pool. Through many times I visited the house he offered me a swim, but I politely declined the offer claiming that the water is too cold. So that Saturday, John saw that the weather is good and turned on the pool's heating first time on the morning. It is a proper pool, almost 12 meters long, so it takes time to heat it up.

Unfortunately the weather through the day was getting worse and worse. By the time we have finished the work on the car it was windy, chilly and almost raining. We had a nice lunch with his family and he mentioned that the pool heating is still on, and we can try the water. The offer was tempting, but he did not insist since it was already raining by that time. When else would I have an opportunity to swim in a private pool in London under rain? With this weather it can be arranged anytime, but the first time was very exciting indeed. With little hesitation we jumped in. The water was warm, 26degrees, and definitely enough space to swim. We have spent almost half an hour swimming and showing off to each other with different swimming styles.
What amazed me the most was the fact that the pool was literally handmade. It took John two years to build it up. He spent loads of time digging the earth and preparing the base, putting the plastics and all the other water heating and filtering equipment. I can not imagine myself having the wisdom and inspiration to visualize the finished pool and spend my free time on the dull project for two years. I used the word “dull” because digging earth for more than a year is not the coolest thing to do.

On the way back, a friend of mine had asked me how was I doing, I texted back that I have been swimming naked in a private swimming pool. My friend, with very wild imagination, was sure that there was a swimming pool with twenty blond Swedish girls. I wish it was true :)

Pablo Picasso

Yesterday was a strange day. Do you know the feeling of drinking but not enough? so that’s what I felt yesterday morning. For these who are not aware of the feeling, I can explain it by saying that when a person drinks the next day is wasted (it’s a fact) due to hangover, but there are two possible outcomes; first, the person have had loads of booze and he have had great fun, then next morning even if it is wasted he feels great remembering the last evening’s enjoyment. Second, the person has had not enough alcohol then he did not reach the level of spiritual enjoyment and the next day he thinks to himself: I should have had more of the poison. So the second situation happened to me yesterday … a day before I was having fun with my colleagues (will write more later about it) and being a host I could not allow myself drinking too much. When I woke up, I realized that I it is the second situation .. cannot study or read anything sophisticated … therefore I went to the city, walked all around the town .. did not find any trouble and went back home .. where I finally watched a movie which was waiting for me for a long time … and it is the point of the current post:

People, if you have time to watch a movie, find a movie called Surviving Picasso,1996.

I watched it yesterday and I have to admit that I enjoyed it very much. This move gives a bit of inside into the life of the famous painter, the way he lived and behaved. This movie will stay with you and every time you see a paint by Picasso, it will bring additional emotions by knowing something about the life of this amazing person. Anthony Hopkins plays the role of Picasso and it is the second reason to watch the movie.

Tip for guys

Guys, if you want to impress a girl, here is a tip for you. Apparently one of the ways to impress is to have proper bed sheets and proper towels. To be honest, I do not know what exactly proper mean, but I would assume that it should be something soft and expensive. For example if you can put your hands on sheets made of Egyptian cotton, it should probably do the job.
Thinking it over, I must admit that this tip has no solid ground. Does it really matter if a guy has or not proper bed sheets? It seems that there are three situations when bed sheets have a role in relations.
First, it is the introduction. Till today I have assumed that by the time the couple reaches that stage in the relations when the girl is introduced to the bed sheets the girl must be already impressed and charmed. Which is probably true.
Second, it is the next morning when you wake up and both of you, admittedly or not, think if the experience was worth it and if it should be repeated. At this situation all counts. If the guy fall asleep first and snored all night then probably only the great sheets can make any difference. Therefore if the girl comes again, it would probably because of the sheets rather than of the guy. This allows us to assume that if the guy have had bad sheets and the girl came again, then probably the guy is the reason. Pure logic it is.
Third situation is when the couple goes out for a while and the first excitement disappears. At this stage the couple can probably talk it over and the girl can pick up the right sheets to emphasize the sleeping enjoyment.
Unfortunately, the source of the tip is reliable and it would probably impress a girl if the guy has proper bed sheets. This raises a question in my head: What is the probability that the man who goes shopping for a proper bed sheets and knows how to do it would be part of the straight community? :)

Julia- Royal visit to the Capital

These days my cousin Julia is showing off in London. Her visit is one of the dreams which was planned for a long time and eventually came true. At the moment we are sitting in a pub over a pint of Hoegarden, which is my favorite beer, on the south bank of the river Thames. The view over the night London is magnificent. She is having great time and she is definitely in love with the city.

Julia belongs to the society of students who learn hard toward a medical degree. She has just completed a third year of her doctoral studies in Moldova. As a reader, you might not be aware how difficult and expensive it is to do a medical degree in Israel; apparently it is much cheaper to study abroad. She says that studying for the degree is not fun at all. I feel a bit sorry for her as I do think that medical degree is probably the most challenging one while the reward is not that great.
Through our conversation over the pint, we were looking for a topic to write in the blog. One of the proposed topics was to compare life in England vs life in Moldova. But …. we have came to conclusion that would be a very sad comparison and therefore we decided to write nothing about it.
It is worth mentioning that Julia, through the six days of her visit, was trying hard to meet a true English person and she had not met even one so far. There were some Greeks, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Lithuanian …. Sort of everybody except English. She is still hunting for one …
