Iranian New Year
I have just finished another writing piece for an english class. You probably know nothing about the topic, enjoy the education post :)
This particular English class is based on the presentations and writing. This time it was a student from Iran who gave a presentation about their New Year holidays while all the rest were asked to summarise it to a letter … Roy is the teacher of our English class … :)

Dear Roy,
Its very pity you could not make it to the last English class. There was a fascinating lecture by Babak about Iranian New Year.
Apparently Iranian New Year is totally civilian happening rather than religious tradition. It comes to symbolize the reborn of the nature and its continuity. Their calendar is sun based and a new year celebrations are corresponded to the beginning of spring. The most interesting detail is its precise celebration timing. The new year’s celebrations are starting exactly at the time of the end of the winter and start of the spring, with an accuracy of seconds. The preparations time phase is mostly spent on cleaning, rearranging, shopping and buying new clothes. On the day of the event it is very common for younger generations to visit the older ones, exchange gifts and have a formal dinner. The celebration event is managed as a big meal with many relatives. There are seven particular dishes served on the table. All of them symbolize the life reborn, health, happiness and wealth. All their names do start with the letter S, therefore it is called the table of seven S. The celebrations least for thirteen days with public holidays at the fist and the last three days of the period. Most of the people use this holidays to visit each other, take a vacation and the most important is to go out to a nature showing their respect.
Ahh, one more thing, this tradition relates only to Iran and its historically empire countries like Afghanistan. Rest of Muslim countries do celebrate the new year by a different timing and traditions.
See you soon,
ya
p.s
it took me 40 minutes to write it.
