Prisoner TD9102 – next round

Words can be sharper then any weapon. I never thought that words can be such a powerful tool. But, let’s start from the beginning and refresh our memory.

So the guy who was accused of sexual harassment (I have written about it in december) spent two months in prison (December and January) then was released for a bale (special conditions). He is living in some hostel and needs to visit police station every day, just waiting for the trial.

Yesterday finally his court session has started. I was involved personally at the first steps of this incident, helping this poor guy, that’s why I have decided to follow this case to the end.

Frankly speaking, there is another reason for my curiosity. I knew the guy only for a couple of weeks before that accident evening and I had already established a good opinion about him. Unfortunately, after his two months in jail I became really suspicious that he has lied to me, I just could not believe that a person can spend two months in jail just for doing nothing. (Yes, political prisoners can spend many years for doing nothing but this case is different)

When I have arrived to the British court, I have discovered a real theatre. If it was not for real, I would think that I am in the middle of 14th century or during some movie screening. Imagine the judge, defense and prosecutor wearing special clothes and a wigs on their head ! The english spoken in the court room is so high that usually I fail to understand the conversation between the judge and the lawyers.

The final decision is done by the juries while the judge’s role is to make sure that the trial is following the law rules and regulations. Juries are selected automatically by computer from the citizens list, similar to the US law system. There are twelve juries in this trial.

Israel vs England 0-0

Israel was lucky this time. To finish the football game with equal result against England is pure luck. (Approved by my friend Felix)

I went to see the game with two of my friends in a student pub. This pub is located inside an international students’ hall. For my surprise, more Israelis’ have arrived. When the game has started, two first rows were fully occupied by Hebrew speaking audience. I knew nobody of them, but there were around twenty guys.

It was funny to see that when England had a goal opportunity, there was somebody shouting “yes” from behind. As a result, all the people sitting in the front turn their heads back to see who has got this chutzpah. From then on, nobody dared to pro England loudly.

By the way, a week before the game, there was a discussion about this game in the student Jewish society of our college. The votes for the game were divided half-half. Some fans were for Israel while others for England. There was even an argument about it, but it was solved quietly … it is just a game.

I have not changed my attitude … 20 people running after one ball .. what a waste of time human power, they could produce so much electricity !

served for British Breakfast

I have not tried it, and have decided mentioning it because probably you don't want to try it either ...

Black Pudding is served in many hotels as part of the British Breakfast.

It is black and usually made of Pigs blood ....

some people did try it and told me that it is nice ... sounds ridiculous ...

from Wikipedia :
-------------------------
Black pudding or blood pudding is a sausage made by cooking animal blood with a filler until it is thick enough to congeal when cooled.

Pig or cattle blood is most often used; sheep and goat blood are used to a lesser extent. Blood from poultry, horses and other animals are used more rarely. Typical fillers include meat, fat, suet, bread, barley and oatmeal.

The London Canals

The place I live, east side of London is located by the canals. This water canals are coming from the north and finally reach the Themes river. For many years, it was not very inhabitant area because of the water level fluctuations and many floats. 2010 Olympic Games in London will be hosted not far from here, thats why all of this area is under development and the land prices have started to rise sharply ...

As it can be seen from the folowing photo, on the right side there is somewhere my house. While in the middle, you can distinguish the green laser beam. This light beam marks the prime meridian and is coming from Greenwich Royal Observatory.

Walking by the canal is very exciting. Check out this couple of photos.

There are some people living on canals boats. I was trying check for the boat parking price, but there was nobody to ask.

Real music

I am playing with my vinyl collection and I am getting confident that the music albums’ once were much better.

So let’s start from the beginning. Two months ago, while visiting one of the crap markets and viewing all the old vinyl records, I have decided to start my own vinyl collection.

Last month, out of the blue, I was given a working turn table.

This month, in the other house, I have found a vinyl collection !!! not just a collection, it is THE collection, having 3,500 records ish. It was just left by its owners ….

You don’t believe me ? If I were on your place, I wouldn’t believe it ether.

The story is not so beautiful, the turntable is not mine and the records also, but for the near future I have the option to listen to the old vinyls.

While listening to the records, I am getting the feeling that in the old days, there was much deeper thinking about the albums. Once, if I played the whole record, I did really enjoy it. Nowadays the attitude is to have one good hit and to build a whole album around it !!! I don’t know your taste, but I don’t really enjoy the full albums nowadays. This vinyl collection makes my point stronger, a vinyl album can play and I will enjoy it fully …..

Scotland is independent

The end of our second day in Scotland was celebrated by our Imperial group in a local pub. It was a long discussion about the event, a lot of funny ideas … very nice.

By the way, couple of Scottish banks’ are allowed printing their own money, which is different from the English ones. English people call it “Toy Money”

Another thing happened, strike of the Scottish Railway begun. It forced us on the third day to Scotland, first thing on the morning, to take a bus to Edinburg.

Edinburg is a beautiful city, don’t miss it !! We had only a couple of hours there, but I will definitely go there again.

This is the postcard I have found in one of the shops, it can reveal the true feeling of Scottish people about being united with England. This year they have referendum for separating from the UK and becoming independent.

BTW: Laxness Lake is located in Scotland, anybody to accompany me for the beast hunting??? :)

Scottish Accent is Beautiful

Hey to everybody, I am back from Scotland !

It was a great three days. First day was a travel one. It takes almost five hours to get to Edinburg, which is the capital of Scotland and another hour to Dundee, which is a bit to north.

After putting things in the hotel, we went out …. unbelievable .. the city is so small … in almost two hours we have covered all the main streets and all the local pubs.

It is so hard to understand Scottish accent. As you listen to chatting, you realize that it is the same English language but in a bit singing way, very beautiful and a quite funny.

The second day, conference day, was interesting. It was a Student Enterprise Event. This event is designed to push students to use their creative ideas and follow their believes and finally open their own business.

The speakers were interesting; most of them have their own company and they talked about their experience. It was even CEO of Ann Summers - Jacqueline Gold, the most famous shop for the ladies underwear and sex toys, but she was a bit boring and did not talk with passion. The most famous speaker was probably Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair's former communication advisor. He was very professional, talking and talking but actually saying nothing ….

I am away

Today I am going far ... to Scotland ... we have a conference in Dundee ...
see you back in a three days ;-)

For the memory of John Lennon

I was planning to post a new message about a canals and the place I live but something else happened that has its priority.

Do you know the story of how John Lennon met his wife Yoko Ono ?
For these who don’t, he met her at the Indica Art Gallery. Yoko Ono as a fresh artist had put an apple as a piece of art and called it APPLE. John was checking the works and when he saw the apple he just picked it, took a bite and put it back. She was shocked by his behavior, thinking that this is a disgusting thing to do.

I was yesterday to the replica of the Indica at its original place, Soho area. It has the same art things and the same famous apple. Do you ask yourself why is the apple famous ? Yes, simply because of John Lennon’s bite. Yoko Ono was famous but not very famous, and probably she wouldnot be remembered if she hasnot met John.

So do you think that there should be reminder of him in this replica event?
I thought there should, so after a couple of drinks, I took the apple and ….
